MEET KEVIN
Local Born Leader

Dear Residents of House District 2:
​
I was born at Mercy Hospital and raised in Douglas County. I graduated from Glide High School in 2019, and I still live here. Today, I work doing environmental cleanup and wildland firefighting throughout communities in Southern Oregon. I plan to stay here, but recognize the challenges people my age have in making that commitment. I would like to do something to help change this. I would like to see a future for our rural community.

Growing up in the beauty of the Umpqua taught me many things. I learned to enjoy what our rural environment has to offer. I also learned that we need to maintain the natural balance surrounding us to keep our communities thriving. As a third-generation forester, I appreciate the need for sustainable natural resources management. I want to spend my life here, but I realize the need for change to make that happen for me and many younger people. So I decided to run for Oregon House District 2.

I am not adverse to hard work and will work hard for House District 2. I will work as hard for you as I did when I was in high school and worked at a horse ranch. Then later when a logger. Now as a wildland firefighter. I will work as hard for you in Salem as I have in these jobs.
We need to address problems in a better way. So I am running on a platform of community rights. We need to be able to address local problems locally and get state support to do so. This includes the need to balance competing interests in order to make our collective resources benefit the people who live here. When we consider the whole community, including both the larger environment and people, we will get the best outcomes. Outcomes that are sustainable and can guarantee a better future for House District 2. I will work hard in Salem to make this happen.
